DITHYRAMB refers to an ecstatic, impassioned, wildly irregular song and dance in honor of the god, Dionysus. As the cult of Dionysus became established in ancient Greece, the popularity of dithyrambs at spring festivals grew, with circular choruses of 50 or more competing for prizes. Over time, the bombastic, frenzied performances evolved a separation of audience from actors and became theater.
Dionysus (later known as Bacchus) symbolized many things, among them: the scattering of the univeral soul into individual personalities upon entering the material realm and the resulting internal conflicts for mortals; fertility; blood; sap; semen; lubrication; breastmilk; the intoxication of the lower nature with wine, dance, trance, and sex that allows the higher self to manifest, evolve, and realize meaning; renewal; resurrection; redemption; latent potential; laughter; and the invitation to awaken the divine within.
CLOSURE TENDENCY refers to filling in or completing a configuration when some portion is missing. It is one of several principles, proposed by Gesalt psychology, regarding the mental organization of parts into wholes by the visual system.
PERMANENT MOMENT refers to the shift in distribution of electric or magnetic charges in polarized objects (atoms, humans, planets, etc.) when in the proximity of other polarized objects. Polarized, or dipole, refers to a pair of electric point charges or magnetic poles of equal magnitude and opposite sign ( + or - ). One aspect of a permanent moment is the predictable stability of the overall configuration, while another is the unpredictable, constantly fluctuating nature of the individual charges.
PERIGEE refers to the point in the orbit of the moon at which it is closest to the earth.
MATINS refers to the last prayer of the night, just before the light of dawn.
GICLEE PRINTS are generated from high-resolution digital scans and printed with archival-quality inks onto various substrates, such as canvas, paper and photographic paper. The quality of giclee prints rivals traditional printing processes and are commonly found in museums, galleries and private collections. The paper we have chosen is 100% cotton rag with a natural white, ultra smooth hot press surface. Its natural base contains no optical brighteners to ensure 75+ years archivability with out yellowing. This heavy weight paper (325gsm, 19 mil) is perfect for images containing very fine detail.
